Actually, the part I (as a Ducks fan) have the biggest trouble with is where you ranked the Kings' offense. I doubt highly that the Ducks will outscore the Kings this season.
I was doing an analysis about Scott Niedermayer's return to the Ducks, and in doing so was taking a look at the result of every team's last 48 games last year (SN played the last 48 for ANA).
Here's how the Pacific rated over their last 48:
Stars 140 GF (1st in west)
Kings 135 GF (1 more than Detroit)
Sharks 132 GF
Coyotes 125 GF
Ducks 116 GF
Of course, your defense numbers look pretty good.
Ducks 88 GA (16 fewer than Detroit)
Sharks 114 GA
Stars 119 GA
Coyotes 135 GA
Kings 152 GA
The 48-game slice is by no means a perfect measure of anything; it's just that I already had that data handy.
Very very interesting, Mr. Sleek, and thanks for the concrete data. My predictions are pure conjecture and speculation and not to be taken seriously, but thanks again!
I love your posts on the Battle of Cali, by the way, keep up the good work.
That said, I wonder if the addition of Brendan Morrison and Bobby Ryan, along with a full (final?) year of Selanne and Scott Niedermayer will improve the Ducks' scoring?
I suppose we'll see.
