Out of the Past: Add Setoguchi to the Illustrious List of Great Players Who the Thrashers Traded Away

Amazing thing, that Internet. I didn't know this until today, but apparently the Thrashers had the #8 pick in the 2005 draft and traded it to the San Jose Sharks.

The Sharks used that pick to draft Devin Setoguchi.

At the moment, Setoguchi has 18 goals and 19 assists. That's 37 points in 38 games.

Could've been a Thrasher, he.

Do any of our readers know who we got from San Jose for that pick? I haven't the slightest idea.

Pretty much, we exchanged firsts with SJ in 05, and also got their 2nd and 7th round pick.

We then traded the SJ 1st rounder to NYR, for their 1st and a 2nd.

So we traded down in the 1st round twice (to 15 if I recall) and recieved two additional 2nd round picks. Got all that?

With our pick the Sharks drafted Setoguchi. With our pick the Rangers drafted Marc Staal.

With the three picks we used we drafted Chad Denny (SJ 2nd round pick), Alex Bourret (NYR 1st round pick) and Ondrej Pavalec (NYR 2nd round pick).

To my knowledge Bourret never has, and never will play in the NHL (later traded for Dupuis). Chad Denny will amount to nothing. Not sure if he is even still with us. And then you have Pavs.

What say you Blueland?

...and the post the seat was on has no lubrication on it whatsoever...so it is indeed a hard one to take!
