Why So Surprised?

Did people actually expect the Maple Leafs to be GOOD this year?

I was actually looking online today to try to find a specific site I heard about on the radio before the season started. Some guy had a site where he compiled pre-season standings predictions from all the hockey media guys. He called in to the Power Play or one of those shows on Home Ice. The reason I was looking for it was that I remember more than one of the guys on Home Ice (maybe one of the folks who also works for THN) predicting that the Leafs would make the playoffs. Several folks predicted all three eastern Canadian teams to be in the post-season. Universally, they all predicted the Thrashers to have a high draft pick.

What's funny is that several media pieces pre-season lauded Burke for getting Exelby in the trade for Kubina. I think he's been a scratch for like 3 or 4 of their five games so far. While Kubina is among our D leaders.

I'm waiting for the Canadian press to blame the losing streak on Sunbelt hockey...we obviously are drawing major dollars away from the club that could be better used to upgrade and it we weren't down here they would have a deeper talent pool. Along with everything else we are also to blame for the Leaf's slow start and I'm sure soon they'll pin the Habs on us too.

Dear Canada,

We see some of your favorite hockey clubs are struggling/suck horrendously.

Well....that's what you get for giving us Nickelback.

Damn you. We deserve more vengeance.

If the rumors of firing Wilson are true, well, they're fucking idiots.
