Really. No sitting around for hours watching the teevee to hear that your team has just acquired Erik Christensen. Thank heavens I didn't blow off actual human work for this momentous day.
So in the last month or so the Thrashers have collected the likes of Niclas Bergfors, Johnny Oduya, Evgeny Artyukin, and Clarke MacArthur. Even though none of us can be sure who our forwards are and who plays with who (seriously: without looking at some NHL depth charts site, do you know what the Thrashers' lines are?), they've been playing pretty well lately (this is TRUE, did you realize it?!). Apparently Waddell and Dudley think this is the crew we're gonna make the playoffs with. Excuse me, I meant "They think this is the crew with which we're gonna make the playoffs." And then, presumably, triumph in the playoffs.
Will it happen? I'd be a charlatan to say I knew. But we are just 1 point out of a playoff spot, so I look forward to this late-season flight to the moon. We might hit an asteroid or a space orca on the way and blow up, but at least we have a chance of making it. Hooray for the moon (playoffs)! I hear it's just like Arkansas.
This one goes out to Messieurs Waddell and Dudley. Take it away, Frank!

Would've been nice to move Slava for a conditional draft pick or something...since the guy's most likely not going to play another game with the organization.
Other than that, no real complaints. Phoenix and Colorado took a blowtorch to my "Army for Wolski" scenario, those bastards.
Don Waddell did not get "Zhitnik-ed" this year. That's always a good thing!
Oh hey, sweet. Jeff Shultz took another dump on us. Eh. Nothing important.
Just wondering...With Edmonton likely to get the number one overall pick and having a TON of needs, would a trade of that #1 Overall pick to Atlanta for their two 1st rounders and maybe a 2nd rounder make sense for both teams? Edmonton gets three quality players and Atlanta gets another young star to help market and build around.
Jay--Whatever you're smoking, I'd like some.
Yeah. While nothing is ever a given (see, Stefan, Daigle, etc.) the first two or three picks in the draft almost always turn into reliable NHL players. The odds go down very quickly the more you move down the draft, so you would NEVER want to trade away a #1 or 2 for what we're going to have (unless we totally tank over the next 21 games.)
Jay - For years Edmonton has been good enough to either just make or just miss the playoffs. Meaning most of their picks have been in the 10-15 range. Because of that they have not been able to draft an impact player (Ovie, Crosby, Malkin...).
There is no way they are going to trade that pick even though in theory what you proposed isn't too bad of a deal. They want Taylor Hall, Cam Fowler, or that other guy whose name I can never remember.
Taylor Seguin??
Is that his name? Or is it Tyler Tippecanoe?
Say whaaaaaaaaat?
