This Whole Season Will Be Worth It If...

This whole gut-churning, manic depressive, rending-of-garments-in-fury season will be worth it if the Thrashers are finally learning to "click," as the kids say, and play together effectively. If they're finally finding the right chemistry, which they seem to be (mainly due to the addition of Peverley, perhaps; good one, DW), all the false hopes and blind alleys and bloopers from earlier in this season will be worth it.

Most exciting game of the year, I say. In the beginning I was severely depressed, but when the Czar scored in the final minute of the second period I sensed something might be underway.

Jesus, what a comeback. Your Chronicle scribes were jumping up and down, screaming, and high-fiving like no one's business. And I won't lie to you: I was hoping the Pev Dispenser would get the hat trick, but when Kovy came barrelling down the ice towards the empty net I very nearly burst into tears. 5 points. A hand in every goal. I love our Czar so much.

Your Chronicle celebrated afterward by listening to Tina Turner and Duran Duran in the rain.

Since the Czar has led the NHL in goals this month (13) and is basically the hottest player in the league right now, it might be worth mentioning, again, some common knowledge that for some reason still seems beyond the grasps of many senior sports-writers: The man wants to stay in Atlanta.

Well said. None of these writers get it. This is HIS team. Hossa has no problem going from team to team looking for a quick and easy cup. Kovalchuk wants HIS team to win one. He wants to build something and be the foundation and cornerstone for that. Not like Hossa, who is just another cog in the engine for a Pittsburgh or Detroit. Two of the last three games that I have been in attendance(Toronto on 1/16 and last night) have been absolutely unbelievable. If they can keep the effort up, I am totally pumped for next year. Something good is going on here. No one outside of Atlanta is noticing, but ssomething is being built for next season. This team is going to sneak up on a few contenders down the stretch. Montreal, Washington, Florida, and Buffalo all have two or more games against Atlanta remaining. The Thrashers are going to be knocking teams out of the playoffs left and right.

Certainly the most enjoyable PERIOD of hockey all year. I wish they would have competed a bit harder in the 1st and 2nd but I'll take the final outcome.

At this point enjoyable is winning. Certainly not the best game they have played by any means.

No, it definitely wasn't their BEST game. Just the most exciting.
