Kovalchuk Out Again, Machacek to Make His NHL Debut

Your Chronicle editor isn't up on what the Kids are doing these days with their Google and their Twitter and their Nickelodeon, but he knows enough to check Ben Wright's Twitter feed every now and again when he wants Information.

Turns out, Kovalchuk won't be with us tonight. This is horrible, probably the worst thing to ever happen to any professional sports team ever, much worse than the fate of that Uruguayan soccer team in Alive

On the plus side, we finally get to see Spencer Machacek play, which is probably the most delightful wish-become-true of all time, more delightful than the possibility of watching the Thrashers win the Stanley Cup from the Wealthy Person's Box, seated next to your girlfriend Maria Sharapova.

UPDATE: Would it be useful to actually say a few words about Spencer Machacek? Yes it would:

The young fellow currently has 20 goals and 22 assists in 66 games for the Chicago Wolves. He's also a +12, for those of you who are into that sort of thing.

It's not going to be easy tonight. That third line better be getting under the skin of their guns. Machacek will be on the Party Line. I'm excited to seem him play.

for the rest of the season its going to be opposite day which means the thrashers will win and not lose. also just curious but let say the thrashers win out, obviously it probably wont happen but is it mathematically possible for them to make the playoffs(knock on wood) or not?
