Salmonela Warning

DW has resigned Anssi Salmela to an undisclosed deal. Peanut is only 24 years old and showed a lot of promise. All in all, I think he was a great pick-up in exchange for Nicky Havelid's services as a rental player.

If DW picks up a top 4 D-man over the summer like he's indicated he'd like to, we'll see whether or not Peanut makes the lineup in October. Having his quickness and offensive nose (as in he has good instincts on offense, not that his nose offends people) on the third pairing with X or Boris would lend good balance.

And for those of you who are confused as to why I'm calling Anssi Salmela "Peanut," I offer the following logic:

Salmela sounds like salmonela.
When Anssi Salmela came to Atlanta, the news was ripe with stories about a salmonela scare involving peanuts.
Thus, Anssi Salmela = Peanut.

That is all.

I thought people might like to have the story confirmed by a human. No offense, dirtmuncher.

If DonWad gets his Top 4 D-man, I'd like to see:

Bogosian-Enstrom
Hainsey-To be determined
Peanut-Valabik

Trade Exelby. Yeah, he's popular and by all accounts a really good guy. But he doesn't score, he can't play on the PK, and he isn't exactly the best skater in the world. Use Grant Lewis or Kulda as a seventh D-man. For about $1M less than X. Use that extra coin towards that Top 4 Defenseman. Would Bouwmeester accept our lavish riches? Or could a trade involving the 4th overall pick and X head to Toronto for something in the 7th overall and Kaberle/Kubina range?
