...

Not a lot of news to report. Not a lot of scintillating commentary to offer. The well is running dangerously dry.

Take a gander at the Falconer's trade speculations about goalies and defensemen.

All I'll say is this:

- If the Thrashers DON'T move Niclas Havelid for a 2nd-rounder or a decent roster defenseman I'll be most displeased.

- Much as I love Marty the Party, every team could use a guy like that in the playoffs and we could definitely get something decent for him. He'll always party in our hearts.

- We could, out of charity, find Eric Perrin a new home as well. Pittsburgh, maybe, so he can be reunited with his buddy Pascal Dupuis and possibly even his best friend Martin St. Louis (you've heard the trade rumors, no?).

- One of the thirteen goalies should probably go. I support holding on to Kari at pretty much all costs, UNLESS we get a killer offer from Detroit or Philadelphia.

Even the tumbleweed is bored.

Holland has stated that he is not in the market for a goalie.

Should be interesting...

I would try to trade with teams out west that are on the edge of the playoffs trying to get in. The Blue, Predators, and Oilers as examples. These teams might be desperate enough to trade a first round pick, plus prospects for Kozlov, Havelid, Perrin, Reasoner, Pavelec, or a combination of players. If the team that the Thrashers trade with ends up missing the playoffs, then a first round pick could very well be a TOP TEN pick(or better), since there is little room between 7th and 14th in the western conference right now. Four or five points could be the difference between all of those teams.

Good point Jay. A team out West that trys to make a run at it with a trade could very easily miss the playoffs if things go badly.

I still say Reasoner goes back to the Oil...

Would someone like Nilsson or Penner be someone you could see the Thrashers going after for a Reasoner and/or Havlid? Both have potential, and in Penner's case, a contract that I'm sure Edmonton would like to get rid of. Both have been in the doghouse this year and both have some talent. Penner's contract might help keep Atlanta above the Salary Cap floor. Any thoughts?

Jay-

I'd love to get Penner, and I actually think Reasoner for Penner is a fair deal. As you note, he's certainly been raked over the coals in Edmonton this season. I think it's possible
