You Just Got Blazed
Dean Blaised, that is.
For those of you Thrasher fans hiding under a rock or drowning your sorrows of this God awful 8 game losing streak, you may not be aware of a splendid event going on right now. The World Juniors tournament. Filled with the future of the NHL, this tournament is always fast, exciting, good old crazy fun.
And you don't want to miss the Gold Medal game featuring the US of A America's against the Mighty Moose of CAYNAYDAY. Tomorrow night at 8:00 on the NHL Network. And yes, it is OK to skip the Thrash/Pens bout. Country first, right?
USA Hockey has come a long way over the years. We won this tournament back in '04 and it is high time we take it back (we finished 5th last year). Oh, by the way, some guy by the name of Jeremy Morin plays for the US. Why, whatever do you mean Biggie? The same Jeremy Morin that plays for the Thrashers and was interviewed by the Blueland Chronicle, who had the great interviewers insight to ask about this particular World Junior tournament? Yes, the very same.
I've watched every game so far, and Morin has had a great tournament. His hands are fantastic. He scored a goal against Canada in the shootout (when he had to score to keep the game going) that would have been a goal in any league, on any goalie. It was a thing of beauty. The bad news is he needs to work on his skating. From what I can tell, that is the only reason he didn't go in the first round last year. Stats on Morin so far through six games: 2 goals, 5 assists, +5, and that dandy of a shoot out goal to boot. His points are big boy points as well. One goal tied up the Slovakia game to start the tournament when we were down 2-0. He also had the assist on the third period game winner against Sweden to put us in the Gold Medal game. Clutch. I love Jeremy Morin and I want to shout it from the mountain tops. THE MOUNTAIN TOPS I SAY!!!
Lots to be excited about, for sure. This sets the stage for an unbelievable Olympic tournament. To my surprise, for the most part, Burkie got it right with the picks. No one is talking about the USA, but I see no reason we can't come home with the Gold if things go our way. And no, I am not joking. But first, we take Gold in the Juniors. And then beat Canada on their own ice in Feb.
You just got Blaised, bitches. Each and every single one of you. Wooooo!
