It does lighten my mood on things SOMEWHAT. However, I'm still not convinced. People say things in public all the time and go back on their words. See--Kiffin, Lane.
But considering I was about to jump off my roof after Liverpool lost again today, this puts me in a better place.
Yeah, that was surprising to say the least. Even with the season they've been having I thought they would beat a team like Reading. I have a friend who's a Reading man and is at the moment just cold going nuts.
They've beaten us regularly ever since they made the EPL a few years ago, in pretty much every competition. And our entire team (Torres & Gerrard) got injured. Awesome. BTW, who's your club Morty? And does the FA Cup still matter?
On a hockey note, since sometimes hockey has been spoken of here...I do have to give respect to all the guys who ended their goal-less streaks last night. Boulton, Kubina, and (gasps) was that Todd White scoring goals AND bouncing back from an injury? My, my. God forbid the man earn his 2.4 million dollar salary. Also, Slava looked like he was only 34 instead of 37. And that Kovy guy, he did some okay things I suppose. Like backcheck and play defense. Weird.
Tomorrow is Buffalo. I'd go to the game, but I'd surely end up in jail for bludgeoning the visage of a transient Buffalonian. They're not exactly my favorite people.
RCP - I agree, that statement is a little disquieting. It seems like its basically saying "Hey Donnyboy! I can wait this out longer than you can. Dont think so? Just watch. From the unemployment line. And Ill laugh all the way to the bank."
Yes, the game DID go well, and every single Thrasher played well, but it's going to take a few more wins for me to feel confident again. Boulton was insane, Todd White was alive, and it's great to see Kubina use that huge shot of his, even though he's been consistently great all season.
My club? I have to admit I don't have just one, but waver back and forth between Tottenham Hotspur (in contrast to Arsenal they're the non-evil North London team), Aston Villa (nice colors, and a fanatic friend introduced me to them) and Chelsea (I say sheepishly). If I had to choose one I'd say Tottenham.
Any of you guys watch the Wash v. TB highlights? I was amazed to see Ovie drop the gloves with Downie but before they could engage, Bradley skates over and takes on Downie in his place. That is EXACTLY what should happen if Kovy ever mixes it up.....no way we can afford to have him sit for 5-10 minutes in a game. I was just amazed to see it. Anyway, hope to see a win tonight against the Banana Slugs and their annoying fans...."Go Home Buff-a-lo"
On another note.....Kovy aside, shouldn't DW start thinking about becoming a buyer in this market? Toronto, Edmonton and Carolina are out and have assets to move. Maybe we need to look into picking up some assets now. I say dangle that #1 pick this year for a serious upgrade. Toronto needs a #1 back too. I wonder what Armstrong (unless we think we will for sure re-sign him) and a #1 or White and a #1 could bring in return....just food for thought.
i still think all those trades don't give us a good return for what Kovy is actually worth. Every team on that list should have to give us atleast 1 first round pick, their top prospect, and a top 3 forward for him.
That Buccigross article is fun but totally unconvincing.
A2B- Not a huge Fulham fan, but their old stadium is quite lovely, and not far at all from Chelsea's grounds. I'm surprised there isn't more inter-Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea blood-letting.
You'd be surprised how much FFC and CFC hate each other. Its a big derby game similar to Man U and Man C. Thats another discussion for another day though I'm afrad.

Go Thrashers? Sure, why not.

"if it has to take until the last second, that’s what it takes. You never know.”
Who was it who predicted that was the strategy Kovy/Grossman were taking?

Speaking of food for thought, Buccigross appears to be doing trade scenarios for EVERY NHL team and what they'd give up for Kovy.
Oh my.

Perhaps a TBC outing to Fado to watch some football (where if Liverpool loses, I'll be hammered at 10:30 in the morning) should be in order.
I'd be up for some Gaelic football maybe. Or Rugby.
GPY-
YES. It will happen.
