Taking Stock

Okay, so far we failed to sign the following defensemen:

Brian Campbell
Wade Redden
Mark Streit
John Michael Liles
Mike Commodore

We failed to sign the following forwards:

Daymond Langkow
Brian Rolston
Michael Ryder

Our options?

For defense:
Brooks Orpik and Jason Smith.

For the position of Czar's Center:
Brendan Morrison
Pavol Demitra
Patrick O'Sullivan

Any of the above would be just fine with me. Trading away some draft picks for a young and effective center like O'Sullivan might be the best option, though I'd be elated with Demitra (very high-producing with Marian Gaborik; imagine how he'd be with Kovalchuk) or Morrison.

At this point, I should know enough not to hope.
