The Man Has A Point

This begs the question: do we ALL have to follow Ak Bars now?

Also: I suppose this means he won't be playing for us anytime in the near or distant future.

so winning in a second rate league is bette than being competative in the best league... maybe we don't really want that guy after all.

It is a bit contemptible to prefer winning in a 2nd rate league to struggling in the world's best league, but I actually think Nikulin's preference has less to do with playing on a winning or losing team than it does with his own mega-celebrity in the KHL. He's a very big fish in a (figuratively, not geographically, speaking) small pond, whereas here he'd be...I guess we'll never know! A sad thing, not challenging yourself...

He also would need to take a serious pay cut to play in the NHL. I don't know if that's a sticking point in his coming to Atlanta, but it seems that he prefers playing in his homeland than here in the US. And that's a hard position to argue against.

Morty- I believe Emilio Estevez summed it up for you in Young Guns II when he talked about testing yourself every day. I was looking for the exact quote but can't find it anywhere. Will have to pull out the movie and watch it instead.

Sure would like to have that draft pick back. Could have had Bryzgalov, Stoll, Lilja, Vermette, Ellis, or Martin. Of course, we had another draft pick between Nikulin and all of those players and we used it on Libor Ustrnul, so I guess it doesn't matter.

Our scouting has been really bad for a long time, hasn't it?

Fuck him. How hard can that league be when Eric Perrin is/was a number one center?
