Greg de Vries! Thou shouldst be living at this hour*. GAME DAY: Capitals
Were I a dramatic soul, I would say that tonight's game between our Thrashers and their feared/hated/exciting divisional rivals from DC is some kind of great reckoning, a do-or-die hell-raiser with the potential to be epic and memorable. You know the score: the Capitals are great, the Thrashers aren't, Boudreau knows the secrets of the spheres and their music, Anderson is his buddy and thus might be the only man who truly understands Crazy Bruce and how to beat him, etc.
But.
The Caps have lost their last two games, and they'll probably never forgive themselves if they lose to us tonight, so expect them to come out with all guns blazing. Meanwhile, our best defenseman is out tonight. Filling in will be Chris Chelios, who has won 3 Stanley Cups and 3 Norris Trophies and is, at 48 years old, a man of enviable surfing skills.
Ondrej Pavelec is in goal. To quote Earth's greatest governor, "go Thrashers."

I just took a look at the remaining schedules of the Bruins, Habs, and Flyers. Things do not look good, no matter how they've been playing as of late.
We pretty much have to catch whoever loses the Philly-Montreal game tomorrow night, or the Bruins. Looking at their remaining games, I think we the best we can hope for is one of the three teams to take only six of their remaining points. There's a slight chance that the Habs could manage to only take four points if they lose to Philly.
If the worst team amongst the three above us only takes six of their remaining available points, the Thrashers would have to gain NINE of the possible ten. That's a 4-0-1 record. Against three of the best teams in the NHL. If we get lucky and the Habs do only manage to garner four points down the stretch, then the Thrashers only have to take seven, which they could do by going 3-1-1 or even 2-0-3. Two regulation wins and three overtime/shootout losses. Is even that too much to hope for against Was/Pit/NJD/Was/Pit?
