Hockey fans are more conservative and vote fairly often. PGA fans are the most conservative and most reliable voters, while WNBA fans are the most liberal, but don't vote all that much. Pro Wrestling fans are also very liberal, but rarely vote.
Unless you're a candidate for office who is trying to determine how to spend your campaign money, this isn't that useful, but very interesting.

More seriously: I assume this study is US-specific, so I wonder how the categories turn out in Canada vis-a-vis the NHL. It doesn't really surprise me that most (but not all!) American NHL fans are more conservative, but there seems to be more political diversity among NHL fans in the great Beaver Republic.
I am Gretzky sure that it is US specific, as it was done as a tool for politicians to determine where to spend their advertising money. I would be curious to see the Canadian counterpart as well.
One of the most curious things was the divide between college basketball fans vs NBA fans. Also, the kind of sports watched by people on both sides of the aisle who don't vote.
