Kozlov Whines to Rusky Press

Jay Grossman just tweeted a link to an interview with Kozlov in the Russian press. Link here. Kozlov is obviously very upset (says he has been all year) and wants out, but only if he can go to a contender with Russian players. He also is considering the KHL for next year.

"Atlanta coach likes playing in four links, while I think that it’s impossible to play the whole match this way as we simply lose the rhythm. Ilya and I tried to explain that it’s necessary to change picture of the game sometimes.

"In order to catch the rhythm it’s better to play in two or three links, but Anderson doesn’t feel it. Maybe he is inexperienced or maybe he sticks to his own directions after he won the cup in AHL".

Assuming "links" is supposed to be lines. So Kozy and Kovy have been arguing with John Anderson about the way he rolls out four lines instead of just two or three?

If you're questioning your coach like that, you need to go. Make room for players who will buy into the coach's strategies.

Waaaaaa freakin' waaaaaa! Don't let the door hit ya where the good Lord split ya!

I'm done with Russian finesse players who don't have any interest in back-checking or playing a complete game. This is typical whiny, me-know-better-than-coach crap from a fading star. Sad.

Thank goodness Antropov is from Kazakhstan!! ;-)

I for one will be kinda sad to see him go. But I do have to say that if that's his position I'm for moving him or letting him walk and not playing him. No sense in having a severely disgruntled wodkamaniac disrupting the locker room.

This is the first we've heard from Kozlov in the entire time he's been here. The guy wants to win and play. Explain to me why that's a bad thing. At least he doesn't pull a Randy Moss and just mail it in just cause he's unhappy.

Curious question based on a couple of the things you said. Where are you from and who's your team?

For the record I have nothing against Slava. And I have nothing against the comments he made. Hopefully we can move him, if not he'll walk in the offseason. No biggie.

It is a shame he said anything at all. I don't really understand his comments either (other than the language barrier). Our 4th line plays about 6 mins a game on even strength and Reasy and Thorbs play 4-6 mins a game on penalty kill. So does Kozy want the coach to just run 3 lines a game? Makes little sense to me. oh I see, let's give more ice time at even strength to guys who are -15.....

Maybe I'm not thinking of the same player, but the Slava Kozlov that I'm thinking about has mailed it in all season long.

I don't think Slava ever mails it in. I just think he's been off his game this season. Could be because he's simply getting old.

For some reason or another I'm not that bothered by what he said. Great player. I'll miss him.

But it looks like he hasn't been traded, so...
