Oh Yeah, We Actually Have a Game Today

and it's against the Washington Capitals in WashingtonCapitalLand, just down the street from the International Spy Museum and that Red Roof Inn frequented by prostitutes.

First game of the post-Kovalchuk era and the dawning of the Oduya Era. This can be fun, right? We're into this...I'M into this, right?

I'm into it once the team makes it back safely from DC. Think I'd rather eat some good food, drink some wine and hang with K-belle watching a movie. I'll record the game, but only watch it after the fact to see how bad we look.

But Saturday is a new day! The sun SHOULD be shining by then, and I'll be ready to don my Marty Party persona and yell slurs and epithets at Tomas Vokoun!! Oh wait, that's not Marty's persona, that's MINE!!

The dude from Cash Cab's playing the Punchline tonight, so I think I may go do that and try and have a good laugh about the whole "Nah! We didn't just get fucked in the ass in ANOTHER trade! It's all good!" situation.

And Morty, you gotta stop sneaking in and taking pictures of me relaxing in my house. This shit's just ackward now.

Sorry, GPY, I can't resist. I have to document the Chairman of the Board's suave lifestyle!

Speaking of suave, this shit made me LOL.

I'm mailing my Kovalchuk jersey to Don Waddell, asking him what I should do with it.

I suggest other Kovalchuk jersey owners do the same. You can send your jersey to Mr. Waddell at:

101 Marietta St.
Suite 1900
Atlanta, GA
30303

His response will be to put it with your Hossa and Heatley jerseys in that box in your attic.

Duh.

Anyone else hear John Kinkade toadying up to Don Waddell this afternoon?? I wanted to rip the radio right out of the dashboard.

So, Don, was there anything else you could have done to get Kovy to sign for anything other than a max contract?? Hell yeah, I could have avoided fucking this team up for the last ten years.

It's a cumulative thing Kinkade. DW has made so many poor decisions, why in the world would Kovy want to re-sign with this "less than first rate" franchise?

Make of it what you will.

Just saw Kovy in a Devils jersey while watching the Devils pregame. Made me sick to my stomach.

Cookies make everything better. I'm whipping up a couple batches tonight and tomorrow for Super Bowl Sunday. Hopefully they'll cheer you guys up! I hate it when others are in the dumpster. Aside from throwing hte year in reverse and convincing Kovy to stay, let me know if there's anything I can do for you fine chaps.

PS: After hearing who we rec'd in the trade, I asked Jason what kind of name was "Birdforest". Then today, I kept thinking it was something like "Nathan Bedford Forrest". This is going to take some getting used to! :)

Hmmm...cookies.

One thing I noticed about tonight's game was that we have a bunch of nice pieces. If we could only get a superstar player to lead them. Oh, wait...nevermind.

Guess the attendance for tonight's game in New Jersey? They just had 15,000 fans at the game on a Friday night when they just brought in one of the best players in the league. And yet everyone is wanting the Thrashers to move? Also look at the Avalanche, they are barely above the thrashers in attendance and they are in a playoff position and battling for their division. Yet you never hear of those teams moving, even though they have won multiple Stanley Cup titles and have had hall of famers play most of their careers with those teams. Yet the Thrashers have never won a playoff game and have had to trade their best players over and over again, yet still most years have outdrawn the Devils, Islanders, Blackhawks and even the Bruins one year and the Canadian and American media and hockey fans can't wait to see the Thrashers move. Makes me sick.

This isn't a bad hockey market, they are just sick of the ownership. Same thing happened in Chicago and Boston not too long ago. The only team that consistently draws no matter how bad they do is Toronto. I compare their fans to Cubs fans. They just don't know any better. Stable ownership with a commitment to win would start to bring the fans back to Philips. Although I will say that the ASG offering up $101M says something to me.

In other news, Brian Burke's son died in a car accident last night.

Awful, awful news. Condolences to the Burke family.

Cookies today! "Hooray!" I say.

goofball totalitarian (nice name, btw):

Thanks for the tune. I highly encourage all TBC readers/operatives to post songs in the comments that they think capture something about whatever weird situation the Thrashers find themselves in at whatever moment.
