PRE-SEASON GAME DAY: Columbus Blue Jackets (how comical)
Even now I'm finding it hard to believe that new Thrashers hockey will take place this evening. But it is, so hooray, even though it's a pre-season game against the Blue Jackets with a try-out/ training camp line-up.
What IS this line-up? In case you haven't already seen it:
Kane- Burmistrov- Stewart
Dawes- Little- Pettersson
Paquette- Holzapfel- Aliu
Eager- Rissmiller- Machacek
Hainsey-Sifers
Kulda- Meyer
Valabik- Zubarev
Pavelec
MacIntyre
All of which begs the question: who is "Sifers" again?
Needless to say your Chronicle will have correspondents on the ground. We'll report our findings (e.g. who this mysterious person with the "Sifers" code name might be) later tonight.

I briefly attended practice at the Ice Forum today. Byfuglien, Antropov, and Slater were all on the ice participating in drills.
The team worked on board play including breakout passes off the boards and cycling in the offensive zone.
Bogosian appeared to either 1) struggle with passes off the boards or 2) experiment a lot with placement of passes off the boards.
Among other obvservations were that Freddie Modin is one large human, and Rich Peverly with a little facial scruff looks like some kind of Wild West sheriff.
And this Sifers character is a former UVM Catamount who has played 37 NHL games for the Leafs and Wild over the past two seasons with a combined 2 goals (both with the Leafs) and -3 with 24 PIM. He fared somewhat better in the AHL over two and a half seasons scoring 14 goals and 44 assists and going +8 with over 150 PIM.
