Ten Gallon Dick, We Hardly Knew Ye

According to C-Vivs, the newsbreaker, we have traded Rich Peverley and Boris Valabik for Blake Wheeler and Mark Stuart.

This is a very nice trade, and much needed at that. Perhaps shipping our Dick out of town will be the move that saves this Sad Panda of a season? Probably not. But a great move, indeed. I can only assume this is the final nail in the coffin of TBC's great "Ten Gallon Dick and the Russian". Seeing as how every single character in the movie is no longer with us.

What does that tell you? HEEEENNNNNNGGGGHHHHH!!!!!

BTW... Just where is Mortimer Peacock in all of this? I've got to be pulled out of retirement to break the trade news?!?!?!?!?

Mortimer Peacock appears and sez: HOORAY!

This is a great trade. Wheeler is good, obviously, and Mark Stuart is a decent defensive defenseman.

Will it save the season? Who knows?

Anyway, this makes me feel marginally better. Very very good trade...but sadly it means that our Ten Gallon saga really will have to go away forever.

I think another D will be moved. Hopefully not Bogo.

I think you're right. Hopefully it'll be Oduya for some halfway-decent forward.

My question is what awful PR news will come out from the ASG tomorrow to follow up the sense of optimism we may be feeling today following this trade?

Sad to see Rich go, but he had struggled this season somewhat...and Boris Valabik...well, it is what it is.

I also don't see why you trade a center in Peverley unless Jimmy Slates is close to coming back. Peverley was great at winning faceoffs, so unless there's another center coming in or Slates is back, it seems a strange deal to me.

I really think there's another trade coming. Probably a d-man for a true center. Then again, Wheeler can play center, so...

MAN I DON'T KNOW.

Haha good point GPY, they do seem to have a great habit of following things up like that.

I love this deal, even though Peverley was a great player we got 2 NHL calibre players for the price of one, while also making our team have some young upside to make the team get even better in years to come. Something I hear that team buyers like *hint hint*.

DO NOT do a story about a young rapper named Big Buff with an entourage of Big Daddy Kane, Pavelectric, The Swede, and Bogie. They'll be gone by Christmas! The ASG will come out tomorrow and say that after their hours long search, no local investors could be found so they are selling the team to people in Winnipeg. The Hawks will also move back to St. Louis, and Philips Arena will be turned into a playground for Justin Bieber. Other than that, nice trade.

The last line of the Ten Gallon saga could be "Rich Peverley has died of dysentery."

T Recaps - That was the most beautiful thing I've ever read.

As a kid, I would always name the first four in my wagon the names of my enemies (yes, I had enemies at a young age) so one by one I could watch them die of dysentery. Never did I suspect it would be the fate of our Western Hero.

Sigh.

Now the first four in your wagon should be named Winnipeg, Quebec, Hamilton, and Kansas City.
