Two games against the Islanders, two losses. I blame this on Edmonton GM Steve Tambellini for being dumb enough to think that 4 years of the Bulin Wall at a higher price tag was better than 2 years of Dwayne Roloson.
I have lots more to say, but my computer has crapped out and will hardly let me type, so the post will have to end here. I believe the picture says it all anyway...

The team looked a little listless last night but for the most part the teams just matched up well against one another and the team that got the good bounces came out on top. Kovy's line didn't play particularly well though they weren't awful. Brian Little was all over the ice. Pevs and Army were invisible. Not terrible, just not effective.
Hopefully a four game road trip starting tomorrow night will perk the boys up.
Yeah what was with that game, aren't the good guys supposed to win?
I think we need to retire the Reds (jersey that is). All we do is lose in those damn things. We need to get a black third jersey or something random like that.
On the upside...Andy Sutton didn't score on us...
That effort is pitiful..sometimes I wonder where their competitive spirit is. Did the entire team minus Brian Little, Slava Kozlov and Ondrej Pavelec leave their balls at home?
Uh, Czar Kovy was the worst player on the ice and it wasn't even close. I think Ron Hainsey would like to strangle him for his poor defensive commitment and not covering his point assignment, which led directly to two goals. While Whitey, Colby and some others weren't as effective as I'd like, at least there was some modicum of effort on their part. Other than some decent O-zone pressure in the 1st and a few looks on the PP, Kovy acted as though he could give a crap.
Do we start asking ourselves if this team could actually be BETTER if they trade Kovalchuk for a bounty of players, prospects, and picks? I know Kovy is an offensive force, but how often does his lack of hustle on defense cost the team goals? I'm not sure if the Thrashers will ever win a Cup when their best player is a one dimensional sniper. How many teams have?
Trading Kovy is nonsense talk. Is he the greatest in his own zone, no. Is he down right horrible, no.
He is going to score over 60 goals this year. You can give a little in your own zone for that. No offense meant at all, but it really hurts my head when I hear people say trade Kovy because of his play in his own zone. There is no way shape or form this team is better if they trade Kovy.
Jay-
Kovy looked pretty bad last night, but I wonder if he isn't playing hurt. I really don't know what to think: either he's a bit lost right now, or he's heroically playing with a bothersome broken foot as best he can, as a good captain should.
ButhellwhatdoIknow?
According to C-Viv, Kovy and Kubina were under the weather but gutting it out last night. They were home resting instead of practicing this morning but will make the trip to Fla. Perhaps the 80 degree temps will do a body some good. I know it will help mine fo' shizzle!!
Also:
I blame last night's loss on the 3rd jerseys.
Thank you.
Check yo' mail G!!
