THRASHERS SIGN ANTROPOV

(updated below)

TSN:

The Nik Antropov experiment in New York is over, as the veteran forward has signed a four-year, $16 million deal with the Atlanta Thrashers.

The 29-year-old saw his nine-year tenure with the Toronto Maple Leafs end at the trade deadline earlier this year, when the club sent him to the New York Rangers in exchange for a second round draft pick in 2009 as well as a conditional draft pick in 2010.

Antropov had seven goals and six assists in 18 games with the Rangers. He also set career-highs on the year with 28 goals and 59 points in 81 games.

The native of Kazakhstan was selected 10th overall by the Maple Leafs in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft.

More details to follow.

Hell yeah. Good job, Don. Good job, Rick. Now on to signing the Czar.

UPDATE: St. Louis hockey writer/radio guy Andy Strickland tweets, "Antropov Deal is worth closer to $16.4 million. His cap hit will be closer to $4.0625 per yr. Kovalchuk played a role in getting this done." HMMMMM HOW MYSTERIOUS. Was there a midnight meeting in a Monaco casino?

Kovy is turning into the real deal as a captain. I see alot of this as him taking the team on his shoulders and saying listen you motherfuckers I'm not playing on a shitty team the rest of my life and I and Mrs. Czar like it here so this is how its going to be. Its good to be the King.

It certainly looks that way. Long live the Czar.

As strange as this feels to say, I agree with Jointhead.
