Did I mention I really, really like this trade? A top 4 defense of Enstrom-Bogosian and Hainsey-Kubina is solid indeed. High-scoring too, which should be dandy if the team keeps to the esoteric "play the full game in the offensive zone" vision of Coach Anderson.
First thing's first:
That won't be happening again anytime soon. He is OURS now, Leaftards!
Oh yes. This next one sums up his entire career, basically, with annoying background music:
Worried about Kubina's defensive skills, his shot-blocking ability and whatnot? Well, fear not:
That, my friends, is being good in your own end.

Havlat to Minnesota. Damn. Any info on Antropov? Goalies are getting signed left and right. Might not be a market for a Pavelec at this rate. The teams that had goalie needs before today pretty much took care of them. Dallas might be looking, Toronto still needs one, especially if that one Euro goalie doesn't sign with them. Is Detroit ok with Jimmy Howard, and would Pavelec be an improvement over him? I say offer Kessel an insane offer sheet, cut Hedberg and use Pavelec as the backup.
No news at all about Antropov. Obviously Waddudley is making a huge push for him, not sure who else might be. Last I heard (much earlier in the day) it was between us and Minnesota. With Minn. signing Havlat and reportedly seeking to unite the Koivu brothers, they probably won't be able to get Antropov. I say he comes to Atlanta.
It'd be nice to have him. I wonder who is going to go after Chad LaRose.
I've been wondering that myself...Chad LaRose would be a FINE replacement for Colin Stuart.
No doubt. He'd be perfect.
And if not him, there's Machacek, Crabb, even Kane. I don't understand the people shitting themselves over the departure of Stuart. Those short-handed goals are awesome, but there ARE other fish in the sea.
In the sea in the sea that is..... you know there's otha fish in tha sea that is..... The Pharcyde
Completely though, we can get another third liner in some way or another
Kevin Allen says we made the 8th best move of the day: http://www.usatoday.com/community/profile.htm?UID=7f199720956b03f0&plckController=PersonaBlog&plckScript=personaScript&plckElementId=personaDest&plckPersonaPage=BlogViewPost&plckPostId=Blog%3a7f199720956b03f0Post%3a821cbb2c-8c4e-4759-844a-e6347df89570
I think if I were GM, and I wanted to get a player I would pull out a six shooter on him and say "I'll make you famous"
Young Guns and Young Guns 2 back to back on Cinemax
I'm fine with Stuart leaving. The replacement candidates are just as good. On a side note: If I'm Edmonton, why am I stroking Heatley's cock to come play for me? If you have to do that much selling to have him come to Edmonton, he obviously doesn't want to go there to begin with. We all know how Dany can be when he doesn't want to be some place. I say he goes to Edmonton, stays a year and then requests another trade. They trade him to the KHL for Jagr. I can't see any other team coming up with an offer for Heatley now. Maybe LA or San Jose, but it would be stupid. Just a move for the sake of a move.
Jay-
Yeah, I couldn't agree more. The whole Heatley situation is weird, and as we enter the final hour of this nonsense I wonder if he's going to be moved at all.
We'll know by midnight.
Martin Havlat is twittering and promising juicy details about why things fell through with Chicago. He says "Hossa is a good friend" though.
I thought Kovalev resigned with MTL? He's still available. Is he friends with Kovalchuk and Kozlov? Might not be a bad pickup.
Top UFA's left that I'd like the Thrashers to go after:
1. Nik Antropov
2. Alex Tanguay
3. Alex Kovalev
4. Maxim Afinogenov(my sleeper pick)
5. Mike Comrie/Hillary Duff
RFA's:
1. Phil Kessel
2. Jiri Hudler
3. Ryan Clowe
4. Scottie Upshall
5. Brandon Dubinsky
6. Nikolai Zherdev(I like his upside)
First of all, no one wanted to pay Heatley the $4 mil bonus today...
Second, the TSN guys really loved the Kubina for Exelby trade (especially McKenzie and Pang)
Why the fuck am I talking about the NHL when it was 97 degrees where I live today?
