The Internet could be a very good sensation-novelist if it put its mind to it and learned some self-discipline. Right now it's saying that today's ultra-monumental "Milan Jurcina and Chris Clark go to Columbus/Jason Chimera (what a name) goes to Washington" event REALLY means that Washington is clearing cap space (a little over $2 million) for renting Kovalchuk.
Also, Roman Abramovitch is going to buy the entire NHL.

I hate Abrohimovich (sp?), but if the guy bought the Thrashers, I would have to change those feelings completely.
Caps clearing space for Kovalchuk? If DW trades him to our toughest divisional opponent during our own push for a playoff spot, then I'm physically removing him from his office and I'm spending my money on the Atlanta Dream instead.
BTW, if this is TBC when it's not "in full force," then you guys must be raising the bar in 2010.

The Caps probably did this trade to clear up cap space to sign their own guys long term(Semin and Backstrom).
