Carlton the Polar Bear is Just Cold Going Nuts. GAME DAY: Toronto Maple Leafs

What with all the space travel, universe destruction, and playing hockey in an arena on the far side of the galaxy...

That net is on fire.

So yeah, the Maple Leafs. I'm feeling way too poorly to go to the game tonight, but I do have a teevee. Go Thrashers.

After watching those videos, who really cares if the Thrashers win tonight or not? That shit is timeless...and the bombing of Ohio State and Notre Dame is random but AWESOME.

I guess go Thrashers, but we really need to look into signing this bear. He'd bring some grit to the line-up.

"Can you... blow up the Earth?"

"Egad! I hope not! That's where I keep all my stuff!"

Didn't we sign a "bear" when we got Nik Antropov? Oh well, guess he's more of a giant sloth with good hands.

Morty - sorry to hear you have swine flu or diptheria or berry berry...whatever the hell it is, keep it as far from me as possible please! Get well soon G.

I will not be at the game either, Mr. Speaker. I will be busy trying to save the world. I normally try to do that when we don't have a game, but sometimes the world needs saving even when the Thrashers are playing.

I hope you guys can manage without me.

Fellas, get well, and good luck saving the world!

Besides a nice little points run followed by being cold cocked by Vokoun's performance in FLO-ri-dah, did I miss anything of note on the Thrashers front?

Mutton - The only thing you have missed is being in limbo over the whole Kovy thing.

And I will need all the luck I can get in saving the world. I have certain Red Cross duties that I really enjoy, but it is stressful and makes my head hurt sometimes.

By the way, I hope all of our Chronicle readers have donated to help out our neighbors in Haiti. Text "Haiti" to 90999 for a $10 donation to the Red Cross. It takes about 20 seconds and makes a world of difference. God Bless...

I had seen that about texting in order to make a donation but didn't know where the money was going. I went on the Red Cross website and donated that way instead.

GoPuckYourself said...

Only downside of the text donations is it takes a few weeks for them to process those and get the money to where it needs to go.

Apparently there was another earthquake in the Cayman Islands today. Yikes.

Bah. Wake me up when the Thrashers are playing like they were in November again. Actually, now that I think about it, did all of our bad fortune this season essentially begin happening right after coach Anderson chopped off his epic 'stache? Just sayin'....

Big Shooter said...

It does take a little longer to get the money by texting, but there is money in reserves so by the time Red Cross needs it, the money is there...

Shit, shit, shit!!! When can I stop giving a Rat's Ass about this pathetic joke of a hockey team?? This is soooo infuriating. Merciful God, why did you ever let me become a fan of this cursed franchise? (Oh well, time to start drinking again)

GoPuckYourself said...

In order to avoid some epic binge drinking, I'm just turning the game off and watching a movie on Netflix.

Well I'll be damned.

My thoughts exactly. I thought for sure we were gonna simply shit the bed after Poni made it 2 to nil.

Believe it or not, I did not type that post above labeled "Anonymous", but I sure as hell thought those same sentiments sitting in Section 114 with K-belle and a bevy of hosers.

Good to see them regroup but the end of that 2nd period was quite frightening. I think Bogo and Hainsey were each trapped on the ice for more than 3 minutes each! Nice 3rd period explosion but we need to play better than this to jump back into the playoff fray.

Perhaps it was the effect of 3 games in 4 nights. Let's hope the home-cooking puts some extra giddy-up in their game so they feel better than Mo Pea on Thursday.

Go Thrash! Go GOP! Thank God.

Well, I feel like an asshole for turning that game off.

Gib Traf said...

My son and I also turned it off in disgust. Then, as we were happily watching the Rangers beat down TB, we saw that the Thrashers had tied it back up.
Our conversation turned philosophical at that point. Had we continued watching the game when it was 2-0, I am convinced that the Thrashers would have gotten blown out.
So.....

GoPuckYourself said...

Gib Traf--I do the same thing. I even chose not to watch my Jackets play Clemson last night, because I was convinced if I did we would lose.

We won. It's gonna suck not watching them the rest of the season...but it's what I do for my team.

GPY-

I think what last night's victory means for me is that I can no longer attend home games. Oh well. We must all make sacrifices.
