Fill in the blank, Werner Herzog fans!
Vivlamore sez:
At this point, here is what I can report on the ongoing Thrashers ownership issue. I caution that there is still a lot of reporting to do but according to people familiar with the situation there is an investment group that is progressing in an effort to buy the Hawks, Thrashers and Philips Arena and will keep the Thrashers in Atlanta.
There is one main investors [sic] with others in the group, some of whom are from Atlanta. The group is not only interested in purchasing the three properties but there is a “development element” to the deal, possibly involving the area around the arena.
Wow man, wow. Your Chronicle has already revealed important details about this "main investor," here.

Notice he doesn't say anything about keeping the Hawks in Atlanta. Or the arena for that matter.
So obviously they will buy all three, then move the Hawks and the Arena to Winnipeg while the Thrashers remain in Atlanta and play street hockey in Centennial Park.
I think that's the only interpretation, really.
Also: For the life of me I don't understand why the media is sitting on this "investor" story.
Do you think it has anything to do with the pending bids for the transit project downtown in the Gulch? Perhaps once that blind bid process is completed (govt mandates privacy and a certain timeframe), the interested parties will be revealed. Is the "Balkan" interested in working in concert with the public\private partnership that will ultimately foot the bill for the re-development of the land across from the Arena? Perhaps it will all come together once the bid is awarded by the DOT??
Our "mystery man" appears to want to do more than just save our teams, he wants to turn the area around the arena into a place that I want to go to hang out?
I like you, "mystery man." Perhaps we should grab a frothy carbonated beverage sometimes and discuss European soccer and whatnot.
Sometimes I just feel the urge to publish a celebrity gossip magazine and buy a bunch of Jaguars.
Jaguar poop really smells. You should get pumas instead.
Good point. Jaguars that race, though...those are pretty nifty.
Pumas are cool, but I wonder if I shouldn't invest in some tree-dwelling leopards instead.
