Will There Be Fantasy Hockey? There Will Be Fantasy Hockey.

YES folks, it's that time of year again. The Blueland Chronicle will again be hosting a decadent fantasy hockey league, and you're all invited!

HOWEVER, we won't be revealing the league ID and password and so forth until next week (when Big Shooter gets back from some sort of deep-water naval expedition in Florida). Thank you for your patience.

But this is probably a good time to talk about draft time. I have the live online draft tentatively scheduled for Tuesday September 28th at 9:00 PM. Is this date/time okay, or should we revise it?

At any rate, sit tight and the league will be open very very soon.

UPDATE: More than one of you has mentioned a live and in-person draft, possibly at the cavernous Philips Arena Taco Mac or possibly somewhere else. I'm intrigued by this idea. It can be discussed further in the comments section.

ALSO: Chronicle operative "Jay" has suggested Fleaflicker rather than Yahoo! Sports. Because your TBC editor is lazy and doesn't want to register with another fantasy league service, he would like to stick to Yahoo, but if there's substantial demand for Fleaflicker...

LOOSE LIPS SINK SHIPS!!! Someone call Shooter and tell him to ABORT MISSION before a U-Boat finds him!

That Tuesday night works for me. We have a preseason game the next night.

Other option: Set it for a Sunday and let's get actual people together in an actual location and do a live draft. We can still do it online, but actually be in the same room. Kind of like an old-school LAN party.

I love the live get-together Sunday idear, but alas, I'm not sure if I'm supposed to be included in this missive.

Do you still have openings for participation? Will I get to meet Natalie Taylor and Shaffee?

AS THE POST SAYS, everyone is invited.

As the post doesn't say, there is a maximum of 12 teams. So when the league opens, you must act and act quickly.

I also like this real life Sunday draft idea.

As always working evenings will probably get me screwed. I may be off and may not we'll see. I'll live with the robo draft.

Just an idea, but what about Taco Mac on the 25th at like 2:00ish before the preseason game vs. Carolina? I'm going to assume that with it being a preseason game, it shouldn't be THAT busy where we couldn't have a draft. Then go right from the draft to the game.

By the way, with Fleaflicker, if you have an AOL username, that will work for that website. I'm not sure how in depth you guys get into fantasy hockey, but the site allows for up to 24 teams and eight divisions in one league, redraft or keeper options. You can select how many keepers you want and are able to trade future draft picks for players. It really is like being the GM of an actual team. You are also able to set up the scoring options as well. Just wanted to give you guys an option.

I have always used Yahoo, but have been looking for a free keeper league and Fleaflicker looks like a good candidate.

A vote as to whether we do Yahoo or Fleaflicker is still pending, but I have set up a 16 team, 2 division league over at Fleaflicker as a placeholder. It is a keeper league, so we could use it next year as well. The league is named 10 Gallon Dick's Posse and the password is "dispenser."

I didn't have time to investigate whether you can do live drafts, etc with it.

Also, I like the idea of Taco Mac, but on a Saturday it is going to be crowded with college football fans.

Unless we get together on a weeknight (doubtful with everyone's schedules) we need a non-sports bar that has WiFi, but does have beer.

Our good buddy Sheky wants in on the league as well.
