Dan Kamal and TSN are reporting that the Thrahers have signed former Bolt/King/Blue Jacket Frederik Modin.
Modin can play either wing and was a reliable 20 goal scorer in the past, but hasn't hit that plateau since the 06-07 season. Since then he has been limited by various injuries, playing in only 44 games last year scoring 11 points.
It would have been nice to have him circa 2003, but now he just adds one more third liner who played for Dudley in the past.

This is a great move! Modin's going to fill the 4th line role that is vacant, because Chris Thorburn's become our top 6 goal scoring forward that we so desperately needed. See! It all makes sense!
GPY- you're right, how could I have not seen it before?!?!
So how much patronage has Dudley handed out now?
Former Dudley employees:
Head coach- check
Assistant coach- check
Golie coach- check
Byfuglien- check
Eager- check
Ladd- check
Sopel- check
Artuykin- check
Modin- check
Am I missing anything? Had he hired a bunch of ushers from the old St. Pete Times Forum? Did Chris Mason play for Dudley in the AHL or something?
Gracious! People posted writings about the Thrashers' "young future," then we bring in oldies like Modin and Meyers, with the possibility of that other guy McLaren invited to camp... ugh. I would have much rather traded for someone like Savard (round 2,) or make an offer on an RFA sitting around.
Dudley worships Big Buff, and creates his personal nostalgia trip in the locker rooms. I hope he knows what he's doing.
Early on I thought that Dudley was doing a great job, but now I have to say I'm seriously doubting him.
First saying that Buff needed to be moved to defense and now this signing? wtf
I'm hoping that whoever the Thrashers hire to do in-house TV work for them this season will be hosting an online reality show called "The 6th Spot," where all 37 defenders that we have coming into camp can take part in a balls-to-the-wall battle for a spot on our 3rd D pairing...only the big twist at the end of the show is that Big Buff is now playing defense and the Postma's & Kulda's (one of them would win this show if it happened) of the world will have to stay in the AHL.
It'd be innovative content that would garner attention around the league, and would also garner massive amounts of criticism when people see that we actually DO have talent on defense and continue to find ways not to use it.
This team perplexes me greatly.
