Giguere is going to be MUCH better for Toronto than Toskala ever was. Giguere might even resign for a lower number to stay in Toronto(and be with his old goalie coach), and dumping Blake's contract is a definite plus. I totally expect more trades to come from them still(Finger, Exelby, even Kaberle in the offseason when his No Trade Clause has an open window, etc.) The 2010-11 Leafs just got a bit more dangerous.Jaynoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3345962750124330515.post-77181985317463343382010-01-31T11:30:49.281-05:002010-01-31T11:30:49.281-05:00Dion Phaneuf is a Maple Leaf.

Kovalchuk is injured in Nashville Saturday is lost for the season and becomes untradeable.

1) Would there remain any chance whatsoever that the Thrashers could make the playoffs?DowntownATLhttp://twitter.com/downtownatlnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3345962750124330515.post-23785394591337612822010-01-29T21:04:12.425-05:002010-01-29T21:04:12.425-05:00Have a safe trip up to Nashville, TBC. This team and franchise needs to be built much like Nashville, with solid but unspectacular players. Having 10+ million tied up in anyone player is a huge, franchise hampering mistake. I also believe this franchise can be successful short term without Kovy and more successful long term without Kovy.

I also do not believe losing Kovalchuk will have an impact on attendance. There are two types of hockey fans in Atlanta. (1) Hardcore fans who will attend games under all circumstances (2) Date-night, event fans. Fans who attend a few games a year for the Saturday/Friday night party atmosphere. Neither group will stop attending games when Kovy is shown the door.Andrewhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15974934729616421617noreply@blogger.com
